Jewelry is considered an important accessory of women.  Some even consider it as an investment.  This is why one should take care of it when you have some in your possession.  When it is well taken care of, it can last for several seasons as most jewelry designs last long.  If you bought jewelry for investment, then it is important to know how to be able to clean the pieces.  This is to make sure that when you put your pieces in a necklace display stand, those that are interested to purchase it would not have any second thoughts about purchasing it.  It is also important to clean it before storing away so that it will last long enough to be considered a family heirloom.

Summer jewelry is much harder to preserve, especially if what you have are made of natural materials like wood and paper beads.  Moisture and humidity play an important role in preserving these kinds of jewelry pieces.  But then, since it would already be fall in a few short weeks, you would need to keep them for now.

Since this is an essential part of your summer wardrobe, these pieces should be given enough care to make them last for the next summer. You wouldn’t want to keep on buying jewelry for particular seasons every time because you keep on damaging the ones you have, right? So, here are suggestions for cleaning your pieces before setting them aside for safe keeping:

It is important to note the kind of material your pieces are made of.

This is an important step in cleaning your jewelry because your cleaning material or solution will depend on what kind of material your jewelry piece is made of. There is no single cleaning material that would be useable for all pieces of jewelry. Using one cleaning material for all pieces will definitely damage some pieces.

Know the right cleaning material for your jewelry.

Gemstones can be simply washed with a water and soap solution while natural jewelry should only be wiped clean.  Make sure that they are completely dry before storing them away.  There are items in your pantry that can be used to clean jewelry like antacid tablets, toothpaste and baking soda.  However, avoid those with harsh cleaning materials like ammonia and bleach as this can damage your jewelry instead of cleaning it.  This is especially true with pieces that contain wood and other organic materials.

Prepare your storage.

This is imperative as this also makes sure that your jewelry will last long. You can place it in a necklace display however, it is best to have a case where you can organize your jewelry when storing it away. Of course, with all your summer jewelry pieces clean already, you also need to make sure that the displays and containers are clean. Would you really want to put your clean necklaces in unkempt containers? You should know how to clean your storage displays and containers first. After that, you can place your pieces in them.
