The Recyclable "Dew" It Yourself Jewelry Stand
Image from EPBOT
|
This jewelry display is exactly made from $3.72 worth of materials from the hardware store and will only take two hours to make. So let’s get started and create your own “Dew” It Yourself Jewelry Stand.
Materials:
• 2 liter bottles, one 1 liter, and one 20 oz bottle of Mountain Dew• 12-inch length of threaded rod
• one baggy each of a coordinating size nuts and washers
• Dremel
• Scissors
• Utility Knife
Step 1
First, collect your bottles. You'll need two 2 liter bottles, one 1 liter, and one 20 oz bottle of Mountain Dew.Step 2
Cut the bottoms off bottles with a utility knife then trim them down further with scissors. Trim them as much or as little as you like until it has this "flower" or "clover" like appearance.Step 3
Drill holes that are the same size as your threaded rod in the center of each tray.Step 4
If you want your lowest tray to double as a bracelet hanger then cut between the "petals" of the bottle bottom to separate them. Cut as far down into the plastic as you can with scissors, and then use a Dremel to smooth the jagged bottom edge.Step 5
Use a metal file to smooth the fuzz edges out a bit, and use small nips to trim off any stubborn excess "fuzz".Step 6
Sandwich each tray between two washers, between two nuts. If your drilled holes are the correct size, each tray will be tight enough that you'll need to screw it into place on your threaded rod.Step 7
Your second 2 liter bottle bottom will act as the stand's base; just flip it upside downStep 8
Lastly, glue a pretty glass bead to the top nut. And viola, you now got your “Dew” It Yourself Jewelry Stand.Sources: http://www.epbot.com/2012/03/dew-it-yourself-jewelry-stand.html
